Create Portal Page Templates

Portal Page Templates are used to simplify the Process while creating new portal pages by using these pre defined Portal page templates.

To create a page template Login to Portal as Administrator.

Navigate to Administration -> Manage Pages.

then  Content Root -> Administration -> websphere Portal -> Portal User Interface -> Page Templates.

and click on New Page or New Page from if you want to use an already defined page template.  I will use New Page for now  and fill out the form with the details as shown in below image

and select 3 column layout.

and click OK.
and Clik OK on the next page as well.

Now click edit page layout on the page you just created

and Add portlets as snown in the figure below. and click Done.

we are done creating the Page templage. Now we will see how to use this page template we just created.
Navigate to Administration  -> manage pages -> Content Root -> Home and click on New Page From
enter the page title and friendly url and in the page template drop down select the page template we just created. as shown in the pic below. and press ok.

Navigate to the page you just created and should be able to see a page with the 3 portlets you added.

*I would prefer to create a page Template corresponding to the Layout Template.
lets say i will create a page template that uses 3 column layout so i would name the page template as ThreeColumnPageTemplate that way in future if i want to create a page with 3 column layout all i have to do is select the threecolumnpagetemplate.

  2. same q to me, solution:
    expand 'Type of Page'
    select: 'Standard Portal Layout'
    it currently states by default:
A content page with these properties: Two Columns
    This page supports: HTML
click on: 'Set page layout properties'

    You see:
Use the controls below to specify layout properties of a standard portal layout page.
A content page with these properties:
One Column Two Columns Three Columns .....
    flag the layout you prefer

This page supports (at least one must be selected):
    flag: HTML
    OK

    HIH
    pBi

  3. Please consider to create the template in WP8 under:
    Administration>Manage Pages>Content Root>Hidden Pages>Page Templates

Thereafter when creating 'New Page From' the templates will show up within dropdown-box of
